Okay, so, I have been in lovely Surrey for almost a year now, having moved over from the Channel Islands late last year. How has it been? Well, a challenge is probably the best way to put it!
Moving over to the UK was, for me, a 'land of new opportunity' - and it still is that. However, the same arguments against video and why it needs to be used for every business is the same as it is in Guernsey. Here are a few examples:
Why would I need a video on my website or on social media? I'll stick to traditional methods.
This is probably the biggest obstacle to anyone unsure about video. They've used printed material, they have their website; they may have even used TV and radio. It brings some results. That, in many people's eyes, is reason enough to stick to what they know. But video is becoming the must-have medium for all businesses. Why? Because over 90% of online traffic in 2017 will consist of video content, and if you don't have video, your website could get lost in search engine rankings.
Video is costly and time-consuming
It used to be, but with less costly technology and decent planning, a great promotional video can be made for less than £500 and filmed and edited in just a day or two. Of course, depending on the subject and brief, a video can run into thousands, but generally speaking, a two-three minute film about your company doesn't have to cost the earth.
I wouldn't know where to start!
That's why we are here! Maybe you are tempted to add video to your website but need guidance. That's fine, we can advise and help you every step of the way, from an initial chat through to ideas and filming.
Drop me a line at firstname.lastname@example.org if you'd like to arrange an informal chat over coffee about how we can help you with your online video presence.
